Hello everyone,

I live in a small village in the heart of England that has been chosen by Scottish Power as the site for a new wind farm development. I'm also a big advocate of renwable energy, especially wind and wave power, although I'll admit to only knowing the basics. As a result I'm somewhat conflicted, on the one hand wind farms need to be built somewhere, on the other what will the effect be on my family and community?

The purpose of this forum is to create a place for the examination of wind farms in general and, specifically, the planned wind farm in our community (although w'ed be delighted to create areas in the forum for other communities either with existing or planned wind farms). Our plan is to examine and document as much of the reality of wind farm development as we are able including, first hand accounts, pictures of developments before during and after, hopefully testimony from experts in the technology of wind farms to expert medical opinion concering any ill effects.

It is our intention to be as impartial as possible and to allow a balanced and informed debate. To this end we welcome contributions from representatives of Scottish Power, or other energy companies, individuals with expert knowledge or renewable energy, eco-groups, wind farm neighbours and anyone else with a contribution.

Jon.
