Since the mid 14th century AD the tallest structure on our local fens was Kyme Tower. I thought I'd put pencil to paper and see how Kyme Tower stands against just one of the Ecotricity wind turbines (if this is indeed the type to be built if they get the go-ahead. They could be much taller - see Fenbeagle). Perhaps the residents of South Kyme and Heckington should take a look and see just what is being proposed.

Nice Drawing Kyme View....You have assumed though, that they will in fact, be 100m high (to Rotor tips?) The Developers are stating, themselves, that they have not defined the type of Turbine that they will be using? But supply information relating to the operation of Enercon Turbines (which they have used in the past)
Unless the Developers are prepared to state what Turbines they intend to use, I can see no reason for assuming anything about their heights? If, for instance, they decided upon the Enercon E-70 2.3mw Turbine, which falls conveniently between the two figures they give us, of 2mw and 2.5mw. The height would be...
Hub height 58-113meters and Rotor Diameter 71m.
I imagine the developers, will be happy to supply us with accurate information, with regard to their intentions, as a matter of extreme urgency? In order that we can, in fact, asses their likely impact on the area. My feeling is, if they know the Turbine heights, then they know the Turbines. And, if not, then how can they tell us the heights?

According to their website, Ecotricity currently operates 7 sites rated at 1.8 to 2mw. According to their stated dimensions, the turbine sizes of 6 of these sites are 120m to rotor tips. 1 site (Shooters bottom in Somerset) claims 2mw from a 100m high Turbine to rotor tips.
